Heart and Soul Program

The Heart & Soul Re-entry Program is geared toward the total reintegration of the young burn survivor from the hospital to normal life, ensuring the family is equipped with the resources necessary for this transition, facilitate a school re-entry, and follow up.

We focus on the overall well being of the burn survivor, family and friends, and the community at large through a series of events that define the Heart & Soul Re-entry Program.

The only way to take a school re-entry to ‘its highest level’ is to have a highly motivated, well trained burn survivor as part of the team playing a specific role in his or her part of the program.

School re-entries work best at the elementary and middle school ages and are almost non existent for the older middle and high school age group. It requires some thinking outside of the box to get information out to older teenagers. (Something like a play or dramatic presentation that involves the high school drama class, or a presentation or report a high school burn survivor could give.)
